Scallop Imaging Digital Window™ D7-180 Camera Honored by Create the Future Design Contest

BOSTON, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Scallop Imaging, the leader in high resolution, digital video camera technology, today announced its Digital Window™ D7-180 security camera was the top Safety and Security category submission in the Create The Future Design Contest 2010, administered by the publishers of NASA Tech Briefs magazine. About 1,000 engineers, entrepreneurs, and students worldwide submitted their product design ideas in 2010.  The Scallop Imaging team will accept its award tonight at the awards reception and dinner in New York City.

The camera's embedded CPUs process over 100 megapixels per second, synthesizing image data into a seamless, 180 degree field of view. The D7-180 camera eliminates the hodgepodge of multiple windows presented by traditional security cameras; instead, through its embedded web server, it delivers two simultaneous video streams that provide the optimum tradeoff between situational awareness, megapixel resolution, and bandwidth consumption:

• A standard 720p HD frame at 15 fps that combines an undistorted 180 degree view with up to four full-resolution zoom detail views; and
• A full seven megapixel, 180 degree video stream at one fps for storage and later review.

The Digital Window D7-180 also features:

• Power over Ethernet, easing installation and power supply costs;
• H.264 video compression, reducing bandwidth requirements;
• Remote access through web browser interfaces on Windows PCs; and
• A small form factor of 3.28"w x 5.72"h x 2.49"d.
