NEW YORK, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Scanbuy, Inc. (www.scanbuy.com), the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, announced today the launch of their first comprehensive developer program called Innovation Exchange, a place where developers, marketers, and enterprise providers can link into a powerful set of mobile barcode tools. Scanbuy's developer program is available at http://developer.scanlife.com, on the Sprint Application Developer website (http://developer.sprint.com) for barcode scanning, and will shortly be live as one of the developer enablers in the Verizon Developer Community (http://developer.verizon.com).
The Innovation Exchange offers a wide variety of developer tools which can be used to launch virtually every part of the ScanLife mobile barcode solution from apps to analytics. Users can use an individual product while leveraging the existing ScanLife system, or they can create a completely customized, end-to-end barcode system which fits their needs. Included in the program are SDKs for Android and iPhone OS, API's to create a virtual code management platform and tools for printers to place unique codes on material like direct mail or packaging. A browser extension to generate codes from any URL or image is also available, which can be used even by non-developers
The program is tailored towards businesses, who need to give their customers easy access to valuable information, content and greater purchasing power. Hipcricket, one of the first companies to implement Innovation Exchange, is leveraging the program to offer code generation and tracking to their customers through an API.
"Scanbuy's technology is a great addition to Hipcricket's already broad portfolio of mobile marketing and advertising solutions," said Eric Harber, president and COO at Hipcricket. "Barcode scanning is a growing element of mobile marketing, and we're pleased to be partnering with Scanbuy to enhance our barcode capabilities and to offer our customers a robust solution which integrates seamlessly into Hipcricket's platform to optimize customer interactions."
Over 90% of phones today come with a camera, converting virtually any device into a personal barcode scanner. The Innovation Exchange will make it easier than ever to convert any physical object into something that is interactive and trackable.
"We're experiencing tremendous growth this past year with an over 700% increase in scans in 2010," said Mike Wehrs, CEO of Scanbuy. "We believe this is just the beginning, but sustained growth will come by providing opening our system to a wide variety of businesses that can leverage the tools we have created. The Innovation Exchange makes it easier for businesses to use mobile barcode solutions and share their ideas with a broader community. This will give our partners an efficient one-stop shop for all their mobile barcode needs."
