ScentWorld Reaches New Milestones With 4th Annual Conference In New York City

NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ScentWorld, LLC announced today that its fourth annual conference, ScentWorld 2013, reached a new record for industry participation, with a 35% increase in attendance over the prior ScentWorld. The global scent and sensory marketing event, which hosted world-class speakers, special guests and dignitaries, took place on February 6-8, at the Marriott Downtown in New York City.

Among the prominent public figures that attended ScentWorld 2013 were: Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, founding Fashion Director for New York's Lincoln Center and the creative inspiration behind New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week; Chandler Burr, author, Director and Curator of the Center of Olfactory Art at the Museum of Arts and Design; Catherine McVay Hughes, Chairperson of Manhattan Community Board 1; Gerald Ghislain of the world-renowned Histoires de Parfums; and Steven Claisse, Senior Perfumer at global fragrance house, Belmay.

ScentWorld 2013 also celebrated two outstanding fragrances inspired by New York City and the tri-state area, called, "The Scent of Resilience" and "The Scent of Departure NYC," during the opening night Welcome Reception and at the SMItty Gala Award Dinner. The two fragrances symbolized the strength, optimism and sense of community of New York and surrounding areas, in the face and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

The 2013 SMItty Awards were presented to the dedicated individuals and companies who had a tremendous impact in the scent and sensory marketing industry. The ScentWorld 2013 winners included: ScentAir, who received the Harald Vogt Scent Marketer of the Year Award, Tracy Pepe of Nose Knows Design's YSmell Project received the Best Sensory Marketing Campaign Award, Shania Twain's use of concert scenting received the Most Innovative Use of Scent Marketing Award and Scentandrea's Scent Halo Light was recognized with the Scent Technology Innovation Award.

The 2013 event also marked another new milestone for ScentWorld events, with a portion of the conference devoted to new roundtable sessions. Conference members experienced a program on "The Creation of Scent Advertising and Messaging: An Insiders View From the Creators," with Jon Bond, co-founder of the groundbreaking advertising agency, Kirshenbaum, Bond and Partners, and former CEO at Big Fuel Communications; Ameena Meer, CEO, Take-Out Media, and creator of the concepts and stories behind some of the world's most famous scents; and Francois Damide, president and founder of Crafting Beauty Inc., a private label perfume creation company and former U.S. president of French perfume manufacturer, Arthes.

The second roundtable session was "Smelling, Feeling, Wanting, Learning: A Scent Lover's Workshop," moderated by Sue Phillips, founder and president of Scenterprises, and creator of several of the fragrance world's iconic brands.
