School Choice Supporters to Celebrate Education at Capitol
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Students, educators, and community members will celebrate school choice at the Capitol at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The supporters will gather at the historic building to meet with legislators, network with other school choice advocates, and discuss educational opportunity in Connecticut.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We believe in celebrating and expanding quality schools and National School Choice Week is an exciting time to do that," said Michele Lindsay, a grandparent of Achievement First students. "School choice empowers families, especially our children."
This event is being organized by the Northeast Charter Schools Network (NECSN), the membership and advocacy organization for charter schools in New York and Connecticut.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
