Scott was most recently the Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group, the leading trade association for the book industry. He is a veteran of the publishing industry and his executive experiences include trade publishing as Vice President and Managing Director of The Perseus Books Group, scientific and technical publishing as Director of the National Academies Press, and professional and medical publishing as Chief Technology Officer at Harvard Business School Publishing and Vice President of Technology at Wolters Kluwer Health, Professional and Education. In each of these roles, he was both a pioneer and innovator in digital printing, web-based and e-book publishing. Moreover, his consistent emphasis on the importance of understanding consumer behavior toward content as the primary force for change in the industry has been a hallmark of his career.
