Screenovate to Showcase Wireless Display Plus Suite on the OMAP Platform at CES 2012
Screenovate's patent pending technology is now optimized for better performance and easier integration over TI's OMAP 4 platform and Android ICS.
TEL AVIV, Israel, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Screenovate Technologies Ltd., a leading provider of Smartphone Centric Computing software, announced today the optimization of its Wireless Display Plus solution on the OMAP™ 4 smart multicore platform from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). This effort is designed to ensure superior performance and an enhanced user experience for consumers launching wireless display from an OMAP processor-based device.
The collaboration creates a distinct benefit to OMAP 4 processor-based Android smartphones and tablets, by providing them a high frame rate, low latency capability to beam the smartphone UI onto other media platforms, such as TV, car display and PC monitor, over standard Wi-Fi connection. The technology is based on the emerging wireless display standard and adds a set of capabilities to optimize the usage of smartphones in the different potential beaming use cases.
In CES, TI shall demonstrate beaming of an interactive, high frame rate game from the smartphone to the TV, utilizing the smartphone motion sensors and touch screen to control the game while displayed on the TV. TI shall also show Screenovate's elastic UI framework, including split screen and dynamic dual display modes. The demonstrations will take place in the TI Wireless meeting space at CES (N116, North Hall).
"Screenovate's Wireless Display Plus technology will help OMAP platform customers extract the full value of our embedded wireless display solution," said Fred Cohen, director, OMAP user experience team, TI. "The OMAP platform's smart multicore architecture offers the right hardware resources to optimize the wireless display experience— including a low power yet high performance video encode/decode accelerator, high memory bandwidth, a unique display subsystem for a more power effective hardware composition, and HW enforced content protection."
"We are excited to release a new version of our Wireless Display Plus software, supporting the OMAP 4 platform and Android ICS. We are committed to keep on providing our OEM and carrier customers a real usable smartphone connectivity solution over standard wireless display technology," said Arnon Catalan, Co-Founder of Screenovate Technologies.
