SCRUBLE Cube™ Transforms Popular Games with a 3-D Twist
Challenge yourself or other players to a showdown of spelling and spatial skills
TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- What if you took some of the best known play patterns from some of the most popular word games and puzzles and combined them in a brand new, unique format to create the World's Greatest 3-D Word Game? Well, you'd have the SCRUBLE Cube™, a patent-pending game with over 7.4 x 10 to the 45th power (that's 7,401 septillion) possible configurations that anyone who can spell can play. Its unique one-piece design makes it convenient to bring along with you to play anytime, anyplace. And, with so many configurations possible you will never run out of new ways to play.
Rated for ages 8 and up SCRUBLE Cube™ can be played by one to four players. Like the famous puzzle cubes, players rotate and twist rows and columns of the cube, but instead of trying to align certain colors, with the SCRUBLE Cube™ your goal is to rearrange letters to create new words. One word is formed per turn and can range from 3 to 16 letters spelled horizontally, vertically and, uniquely, around multiple faces of the cube. Each of the 96 letter pegs is assigned a point value and all rotate individually to aid in pattern recognition. Letter distribution is based on frequency of occurrence in the English language.
USA toy expert Richard Gottlieb noted, "The SCRUBLE Cube incorporates many mind expanding skills in a fun, creative format. It's Rubik's® Cube meets Scrabble®; it can't possibly get any better than that!"
SCRUBLE Cube™ players can earn bonus points by using 2X Word Score or 2X Letter Score pieces in their word. If you use eight or more letters or spell a word across multiple faces you also earn additional points. And, for more challenging play you can use the included sand timer to regulate the amount of time each player has to create a word.
Co-developer of Pictionary® Richard Gill added, "Every now and then you find a game so cool you just have to have one. The Scruble Cube is one of those games!"
Whether you are on a plane, train, bus, or want to stimulate your mind during a relaxing afternoon at home, the SCRUBLE Cube™ can also be played by just one person following the traditional rules or, in a unique twist, single players can try to "solve" the cube by returning it to its original configuration with the words "SCRUBLE Cube", in specially colored letters, spelled out twice on multiple faces of the cube. SCRUBLE Cube™ is a both a game AND a puzzle...on steroids!
Game set includes a 7cm cube with 96 individually rotating letters, a sand timer, scorepad and instructions. SCRUBLE Cube™ retails for $24.95 and can be purchased at Barnes & Noble, select Learning Express Stores, FAO Schwarz and other specialty retailers. SCRUBLE Cube is also a winner of the "Dr. Toy's Best Picks Children's Products" Awards Program 2010.
