CHICAGO, Nov. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For more than four decades, Search, Inc. has been at the forefront of providing unparalleled services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Now, in its new 63,000 square foot Planet Access Company warehouse, Search, Inc. will continue to grow and flourish.

"Our move from Waukegan to Des Plaines puts Search squarely in our primary service area for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, opening up new opportunities for training and competitive employment," said John Lipscomb, CEO, Search Inc. "With an additional 29,000+ square feet of warehouse space at our new site, we are well positioned for customer growth."

The Planet Access Company warehouse, a social enterprise of Search, Inc., ships hundreds of thousands of products every year. Along the way adults with disabilities ensure items are stored, packaged and shipped properly.  Founded in 1997, in partnership with Toad&Co clothing company, Planet Access Company warehouse provides more than 13,000 hours of paid work annually for adults with disabilities.

"Our partnership with Search, Inc. and Planet Access Company is core to our mission to create meaningful change through socially and environmentally smart business and to inspire people to live their fullest lives," said Gordon Seabury, CEO, Toad&Co. "As Toad&Co's warehouse partner, PAC processes 100% of our inventory, providing meaningful training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities."

Search, Inc. is committed to integrating its Planet Access Company workforce so that it is comprised of a minimum of 20% of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, in competitive, prevailing wage positions. In the state of Illinois, only 35% of people with disabilities are employed. For adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, that number drops to just 9%.
