Sears Celebrates a "Great Day" with Canadians on December 15th

"Sears National Great Day" features holiday festivities, giveaways and one-day deals at stores across Canada

TORONTO, Dec. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Tomorrow, Saturday, December 15, is National Great Day at Sears (TSX: SCC) stores across Canada. As part of its quest to 'make every day a great day' for customers, Sears is celebrating with customers, communities and Sears associates, featuring some festive fun and special offers. Full-line stores across the country will treat customers to great Holiday classics such as hot chocolate, candy canes, carol singers and free gift wrapping. Sears Home and Hometown-dealer stores will also join in the festivities with themed activities varying by market.

Customers who visit department stores on Saturday will have a chance to receive one of 50 Sears gift cards, and visitors to all Sears department stores, Sears Home and Sears Hometown-dealer stores will have a chance to win their Holiday wish with one of five Great Wish Prizes.  The prizes include: a trip to Mexico courtesy of Sunquest and Sears Travel; 200,000 Sears Club Points; a $2,000 room makeover; a Samsung Home Entertainment Package or a Kenmore Elite Washing Machine and Dryer combo.

Calvin McDonald, President and CEO of Sears Canada, will celebrate the spirit of the season on Saturday morning at the Sears Yorkdale store in Toronto, handing out treats, carrying packages to customers' cars and chatting with visitors.

"At Sears, we want the products and services our customers buy to help make every day a great day for them and their families," said Mr. McDonald. "We love sharing in life's precious moments with our customers every day and, particularly during the Holiday season, we wanted to make Sears National Great Day extra special to show our customers how much we appreciate them."

In addition, Sears is working with media-buying partner Vizeum Canada, in collaboration with Astral RadioPlus, Bell Media, Corus Entertainment and Rogers Media-Broadcasting to spread the exciting message of Sears National Great Day, making this one of the largest retail radio partnership promotions in Canada.

In November, the Company unveiled the new brand positioning at a gathering of more than 1,500 associates and media in the lead up to the company's 60^th anniversary in 2013.
