Seasoned Executives Join Amalfi Semiconductor, an Emerging Leader in Advanced Power Amplifier Solutions for Cellular Handsets
LOS GATOS, Calif., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Amalfi® Semiconductor, a developer of high-performance CMOS Radio Frequency (RF) and mixed-signal semiconductors for cellular mobile handsets, today announced that Douglas Goodyear and Greg Hildebrand have joined the company. Goodyear has taken the newly appointed position of Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and was formerly the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Enigma Semiconductor, and Hildebrand has taken the new position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and was previously the CFO of Volterra Semiconductor. Goodyear and Hildebrand collectively bring to Amalfi Semiconductor 30-plus years of executive management experience in the semiconductor industry. Their combined experience will further strengthen the management foundation of the company as it prepares to rapidly grow its product offering and customer base over the next decade.
Amalfi Semiconductor is an emerging leader in advanced power amplifier solutions for cellular handsets. The company launched the industry's first CMOS-based power amplifiers for GSM cellular handsets in 2008. This first-generation product family proved to significantly increase the battery life or talk time of cellular phones and led the company to develop the industry's highest performing, smallest footprint CMOS transmit modules for cellular handsets. Amalfi's second-generation products offer better performance and a smaller footprint than traditional, leading GaAs transmit modules, resulting in significant cost savings to Amalfi's customers. The products are currently shipping in millions of units to leading cellular handset manufacturers. (CMOS and GaAs are semiconductor process technologies.)
"Amalfi's design win momentum over the last six months places us in an excellent position for expanded revenue growth in the coming years," said Jim Finch, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amalfi Semiconductor. "Mr. Goodyear and Mr. Hildebrand's extensive management knowledge give us the financial and sales expertise necessary to successfully achieve our rapid growth targets."
Goodyear has more than 25 years experience in sales, marketing and general management in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Amalfi, Goodyear held CEO positions at start-up companies Enigma, TakImaging and Nuelight. His extensive sales management experience includes overseeing worldwide sales for Actel and Radisys, and North American sales and marketing for Sharp Microelectronics, where he grew North American sales to $1.2 billion. Goodyear also held sales management positions with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and the semiconductor division of Hitachi. "Mr. Goodyear's numerous years in international sales will help open doors for us with leading customers in the cellular handset market," said Finch.
Hildebrand has more than 16 years experience in corporate financial management. Before joining Amalfi, Hildebrand served as vice president of finance and CFO at Volterra Semiconductor, a provider of power management semiconductors for computer, storage, networking, and consumer electronic equipment. Hildebrand joined Volterra at its inception and held various financial and management positions with a wide range of responsibilities. He was instrumental in growing the company from a small research team to a multi-national manufacturer and publicly traded company and was responsible for leading Volterra's initial public offering in 2004. "Mr. Hildebrand's past experience with Volterra, helping them grow from a start-up to a multi-national, publicly traded company, provides us with the management knowledge we need to implement Amalfi's aggressive financial goals," commented Finch.
