SEC Risk Director Henry Hu to Keynote NACD Directorship 100 Dinner
November 8 gala will honor top corporate governance influencers and Directorship Hall of Fame inductees
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) announced today that Henry T. C. Hu, inaugural director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Risk, Strategy, and Financial Innovation, will be the keynote speaker at the NACD Directorship 100 Forum on November 8, 2010 in New York City. Mr. Hu oversees the SEC's first new division in more than 40 years, which was established to evaluate systemic risk in the financial markets. He will speak on the topic of "Governance and Financial Innovation" to an audience of Directorship 100 honorees and public company corporate directors and officers.
The Directorship 100 (D100) recognizes those who have been most influential in corporate boardrooms over the past year, encompassing board members as well as public policy leaders and corporate governance practitioners. The D100 includes a Corporate Governance Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals who have had a lasting impact on corporate governance. Mr. Hu is an expert in the areas of capital markets innovation and corporate governance and also holds the Allan Shivers Chair in the Law of Banking and Finance at the University of Texas Law School. He is a noted author and commentator and his recent "decoupling" research was discussed in a front-page story in The Wall Street Journal and was a focus of coverage in The Economist, The Financial Times and The New York Times. Mr. Hu's earlier work about the factors that can cause market participants to make mistakes with complex derivatives was especially relevant during the recent recession.
