DALLAS, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has provided its expanded product set to 2,358 facilities or to 90.7% of Securus' prison and jail customers.
"We have provided our expanded product set to 2,358 facilities – or at least one (1) product to most of our prison and jail customers – but we have a long way to go," said Richard A. ("Rick") Smith.
"The products that we call our expanded product set are actually necessary in today's corrections environment – necessary to provide more completed calls from inmates to friends and family members, and additional safety and security for inmates, corrections officials, and all of society," said Smith. "It is the natural progression of products in a competitive market where we are constantly making products easier to use, faster, better, and at a lower cost to inmates and friends/family. These products have become integrated into our call platform (Securus Calling Platform) and into all of our business processes as well."
Our expanded product set includes:
- Video Visitation Products and Services
- Threads – Data Analytics
- Jail Management Systems (JMS)
- Inmate Tracking Devices – GPS Monitoring of Parolees
- Interactive Voice Response Systems
- Managed Access Services (MAS)
- Continuous Voice Biometrics (CVV)
- Real-Time Wireless Tracking (Location Based Services, LBS)
- Convenient and Instant Family/Friend Account Funding
- Inmate Tablets
"We actually have over 700 products that facilities, inmates, and friends/family members can choose from – a far cry from what existed in our industry twenty (20) years ago. In the not too distant future – all or certainly most of the inmates that we serve will have access to personal tablets to get medicine, restricted meal requirements, email, GED educational opportunities, serve various religious requirements, voice calling, video calling, online books, commissary ordering, telemedicine, facility handbooks, grievance filings, law library, job searches, and much more. Many of these items are designed to reduce the recidivism rate which is good for all of society while at the same time making the facilities more efficient," said Smith. "Different facilities have sometimes dramatically different technology requirements – and we try to accommodate all sizes and types of facilities (State, County, Local, private facilities, government-run facilities) in the technologies that we deploy," concluded Smith.
