Selective Insurance Group Announces Officer Appointments

BRANCHVILLE, N.J., May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Selective Insurance Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIGI) announced the following appointment:

Jennifer W. DiBerardino (Wantage, NJ) to senior vice president, treasurer.  Ms. DiBerardino joined Selective in 1997 and held various finance positions before her most recent promotion to vice president of Selective's Investor Relations department in 2006. Ms. DiBerardino holds a B.A. in French and Spanish from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV and an M.A. in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ.  She earned the Certified Treasury Professional designation from the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP) and attained a Master's Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition, Ms. DiBerardino is a member of AFP and the National Investor Relations Institute.

Selective Insurance Group, Inc. announced the following appointments by its subsidiary, Selective Insurance Company of America:

Douglas H. Holbrook (Simsbury, CT) to senior vice president, chief claims officer.  Mr. Holbrook joined Selective in April 2010.  Previously, he served as vice president, Claims-Property, SIU and Training for Hanover Insurance Group.  Mr. Holbrook holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah, College of Law.

Susan B. Sweeney (Farmington, CT) to senior vice president, chief investment officer.  Ms. Sweeney joined Selective in April 2010. Prior to that, she served as senior managing director for Ironwood Capital in Avon, CT.  Ms. Sweeney holds a B.S. in Business Studies and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in Boston, MA.  She also received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Charter Oak State College in New Britain, CT.  Ms. Sweeney serves as a trustee of MassMutual Select Funds and MML Series Investment Fund.

Scott C. Betlesky (Wall, NJ) to assistant vice president and field operations manager for Selective's New Jersey Region.  Mr. Betlesky joined Selective in March 2010.  Prior to that, he was the New Jersey branch manager for OneBeacon Insurance.  Mr. Betlesky holds a B.S. in Communications from St. John's University in New York, NY.

W. Scott Crump (Matthews, NC) to assistant vice president, property line of business manager.  Mr. Crump joined Selective in March 2010.  Prior to that, he was a program underwriting manager for United National Group.  Mr. Crump holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and an M.B.A. from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC.  Mr. Crump holds designations as a Professional Engineer in Fire Protection Engineering and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist.

Debra A. Maizys (Mt. Arlington, NJ) to assistant vice president, actuarial commercial lines pricing manager.  Ms. Maizys joined Selective in 2001 as an actuarial assistant and has held a variety of positions in the actuarial department. Ms. Maizys earned her B.A. in Mathematics from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, PA.  She is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Cassie S. Masone (Andover, NJ) to assistant vice president, flood operations.  Ms. Masone joined Selective in 2000 and has held positions in the company's Internal Audit and Reinsurance departments.  Ms. Masone holds a B.S. in Finance from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI and an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Rutgers University in Newark, NJ.

John J. Vessecchia (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) to assistant vice president, auto line of business manager.  Mr. Vessecchia joined Selective in March 2010.  Prior to that, he was a commercial underwriting manager for Kingsway America.  Mr. Vessecchia majored in Business Management/Marketing at Fordham University in Bronx, NY.

Kimberlie A. Weisse (Hartsdale, NY) to assistant vice president, workers compensation line of business manager.  Ms. Weisse joined Selective in April 2010.  Prior to that, she was the underwriting vice president (East) for the Specialty Workers Compensation division at Chartis/AIG. Ms. Weisse holds a B.A. in Communications from the State University of New York in Albany, NY.  She earned her designation as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) in 1999 and currently serves as president of the Westchester, NY Chapter of the CPCU.
