Senator Patty Murray Urged to Change Her Super Delegate Vote - Protest Launched by Kelley Whitty
SEATTLE, May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A protest will be held outside the Seattle Marriott from 8:00 AM – 10: 00 AM on May 20, 2016. During this protest, Senator Patty Murray will be asked to change her super delegate vote for Senator Bernie Sanders.
This protest will take place at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront, located at 2100 Alaskan Way in Seattle, WA 98121. People of note expected to show up during this protest include Phil Cornell and Zack Haller, both of whom are running for US Senator.
"In the state of Washington, we won that Caucasus with almost 73 percent of the vote there. 73 percent of the vote in anybody definition that is a massive landslide but at this point Secretary Clinton has ten super delegates from the state of Washington. We have zero. I would ask the super delegates from the state of Washington to respect the wishes of their people in their state and the votes they have cast," said Senator Bernie Sanders in a National Press Club in Washington, DC. on May 1, 2016. On the same day, Senator Patty Murray stated at the King County convention, " When we get to the Democratic Convention in July Super-delegates will not overturn what the count of the regular vote is."
72.7% of Washington State voted for Senator Bernie Sanders, and yet that vote is being silenced by super delegates like Senator Patty Murray. We need to make sure Senator Patty Murray knows the 99% will never be silenced. We will show Senator Patty Murray she needs to represent the overwhelming majority of the state, and that she needs to pledge to be a delegate for Senator Bernie Sanders.
