Senior Commerce Official to Lead Discussion with U.S. Industry on Haiti Reconstruction Efforts
PHILADELPHIA, June 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rick Wade, senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, will lead a Haiti Reconstruction Forum Monday in Philadelphia. The forum, "Haiti Reconstruction: Accessing Opportunities in the Medium to Long-Term," is hosted by the Philadelphia U.S. Export Assistance Center and World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia. Wade is heading the department's Haiti business outreach.
The event brings experts in trade, procurement, financing, and the Haitian economy together with local Pennsylvania companies to discuss opportunities to participate in Haiti's reconstruction following January's devastating earthquake. This is the fourth meeting hosted by the Department of Commerce and is part of President Obama's commitment to assist Haiti in its recovery efforts. Previous forums have been held in Washington, D.C., New York City and Miami.
Speakers from Commerce's International Trade Administration and Minority Business Development Agency, Haiti's New York Consulate, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and the U.S. Agency for International Development will discuss mechanisms for fostering investment and trade.
