Coordinated by Westchase Charitable Foundation (WCF), this is the campaign's fourth year, designed to help raise awareness and funds for families in the Tampa region who've been impacted by serious illness or tragedy. Fundraising began in early September and runs through November 23. Howell and 18 other candidates are competing to raise the most donations (candidate profiles are on tampabaywoman.org). The winner will be crowned Tampa Bay Woman of the Year, receiving a prize package and the opportunity to serve as a goodwill ambassador in Tampa Bay. WCF is a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity (westchasefoundation.org).
Howell's campaign is raising money through donations, ad sales, sponsorships, silent auctions and ticket sales for the grand finale, Tampa Bay Woman of the Year Ladies' Night Out, to be held November 23 at 6 p.m. at Tampa Jet Center. Tickets and information are available from Howell ([email protected]) or at tampabaywoman.org.
Howell, who has been in health care her entire career, has worked with Senior Home Care for 12 years coordinating medical care for patients in their home settings throughout Tampa Bay. "It's a privilege to be involved in making a positive difference in other people's lives," she says.
This is the fourth year that an employee of Senior Home Care has participated. Last year, Jami (Roeding) Sauerwein, also an Account Manager in Clearwater, won. In 2011, Christal Beattie, from the company's headquarters, was first runner up. Marketing Director, Ronda Woble, was named Tampa Bay Woman of the Year in 2010.
"Senior Home Care's focus on the well being of people is foundational," said Robert Fusco, the company's Chief Executive Officer. "Our staff is in the business of caring, but it's really who they are, not just a profession. Erica is no exception. We're proud to support her effort to make good things happen for hurting families who deserve a helping hand and so much more! It's an honor to sponsor this worthwhile cause."
