The S&P SmallCap 600 Index measures the small-cap segment of the United States equity market. The index is designed to track companies that meet specific inclusion criteria to ensure they are liquid and financially viable. Introduced in 1994, the S&P SmallCap 600 is designed to measure the performance of 600 small-size companies in the United States with market caps in the range of $400 million to $1.8 billion.
