Settlement Reached in Barbara's Bakery Lawsuit
Consumers Could Get Up to $100

A Settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit involving Barbara's Bakery. The lawsuit claims that Barbara's Bakery violated state laws regarding the marketing and sale of certain products. Barbara's Bakery denies it did anything wrong.
The Settlement includes consumers who bought certain Barbara's Bakery products from May 23, 2008 to July 5, 2013.

- Cereal Bars
- Cheese Puffs
- Crackers
- Fig Bars
- Granola Bars
- Organic Mini Cookies
- Snack Mixes
- Snackimals Animal Cookies

Barbara's Bakery will pay $4 million into a Settlement Fund to pay: (1) money to eligible consumers, (2) notice and administration costs, (3) attorneys' fees and costs, and (4) a special service payment to the Class Representative. Barbara's Bakery has also agreed to change some of its business practices, including modifying its product labels and advertising and certain manufacturing practices. Any money remaining in the Settlement Fund after all claims are paid will be donated to charities and non-profit organizations. Consumers must submit a claim form online or by mail by January 1, 2014 to get a payment. The amount a consumer receives will be based in part on the amount of products purchased and the total number of claims made.
Consumers who want to keep the right to sue Barbara's Bakery must exclude themselves from the Settlement by October 14, 2013. Consumers who stay in the Settlement may object to it by October 14, 2013. Consumers who do nothing will be bound by the Court's decisions in this case.
The Court will hold a hearing on November 8, 2013 to consider whether to approve the Settlement, a request for attorneys' fees and costs up to $1 million, and a special service payment of $2,500 from the Settlement Fund. Lawyers have been appointed to represent consumers in this case. Any consumers may hire their own lawyer to appear in Court and speak at the hearing at their own expense.
