Seventh Annual Digital Graffiti Festival Calls for Artist Submissions

ALYS BEACH, Fla., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alys Beach, in conjunction with Visit South Walton and InFocus, invites artists from around the world to submit original artwork for the Seventh Annual Digital Graffiti Festival. The festival explores ways in which art, design and technology interact with the unique architecture of Alys Beach to create new forms of expression. The juried event also showcases artists who are using advanced technology to create original works of art to be projected across the town's iconic white walls.

For this year's festival, to be held June 6-7, 2014, selected finalists will have their work projected at the event and will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes, including a $5,000 "Best of Show" award.   The deadline for submissions is April 21, 2014. In addition to directing the visiting artist program for Alys Beach, Brett Phares will once again curate this year's Digital Graffiti Festival.   With over 20 years of experience in interactive media, Mr. Phares has been involved with the festival since its inception.  With his own body of work, he has created innovative computer visualization and installation projects for multiple international clients, and has had work shown in North American and Asia, including the Chelsea Art Museum, the London Museum (CA), and SIGGRAPH. 

For two evenings, Alys Beach opens its doors, courtyards, and pedestrian paths to innovative companies and groundbreaking artists who transform the entire resort town into a living work of art.

In 2013, 23 artists were selected to display their work, including artists from Brazil, Canada, France, Iran, Poland, and cities throughout the U.S.
