BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeanne Allen today earned a strong endorsement by the Gazette newspaper, one of Maryland's most widely-read papers. (www.VoteJeanneAllen.com)

Allen, a candidate for state delegate in Maryland's 16th district, received a ringing endorsement, praising her for her economic plans, her creative problem solving skills and her potential to "shake up the House." She is the only Republican candidate for the Legislature in District 16 to receive an endorsement from the Gazette.

"Republican Jeanne Allen is a good choice for the third seat. An education reform advocate, she lacks many Democrats' slavish devotion to unions and believes public employees should contribute more to their benefits. She embraces tough budget choices and creative problem solving. Allen is a fiscal conservative and social moderate, and could shake up the House a bit," the Gazette wrote in its editorial today.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Gazette and I am incredibly thankful for the outpouring of bipartisan support we've received in this campaign from every part of our district," Allen said. "Together we can move make government work for us again, we can revitalize our economy and create jobs that work for Marylanders and we can provide new and better educational opportunities for children. We just need leadership to do that."

Allen is the only candidate in the race for delegate to release an economic recovery blueprint and an education reform plan. As a national education leader, she has worked alongside policymakers of all parties to improve schools for children in 40 states.
