Shawn Kolodny Presents Fake Fulfillment Center, a Solo Exhibition for Art Basel Miami Beach 2017

MIAMI, Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New York-based artist Shawn Kolodny has announced the debut of his provocative and immersive solo exhibition Fake Fulfillment Center, popping up in Miami for the 2017 iteration of Art Basel Miami Beach. Fake Fulfillment Center will officially open at the Boulan South Beach at 220 21^st St, on Wednesday, December 6th and remain open through Sunday, December 10th.

Fake Fulfillment Center is a 5000-square-foot immersive art installation that confronts the reality of modern addiction in a manner that is both social and playful while remaining thoughtful. Fake Fulfillment Center is an exploration of the ways in which our society's need to display status, wealth and class has formed into dependence. Fake Fulfillment Center, like all of Kolodny's works, has been shaped by the artist's own personal battles with status seeking and drugs.

Combining art from Kolodny's latest series, Fake Fulfillment Center guides guests through a handful of multi-sensory rooms, inducing an interactive search for the cause of one's personal void. Guests of the exhibition will enter through a "pharmacy" located on 21st street where they begin their exploratory experience by donning lab coats. Traveling through a series of social media friendly, larger-than-life vignettes including vintage vials emanating bubbles, a majestic forest of luminescent IV bags and a room of reflection inviting participants to become part of the exhibit - this dark twist of playgrounds is an exhibit not to be missed.

The exhibit is open from 11AM - 6PM daily and entry is limited to groups of 20 at a time. Single and group reservations can be made now at FakeFulfillmentCenter.splashthat.com.

Shawn Kolodny (born 1971) is an American artist, living and working in Manhattan, New York and Miami, Florida. Kolodny received his Bachelor of Industrial Design from Syracuse University in 1994 and his MBA from Stern School of Business in 2010.
