Shipyard Joins StackGen, Adding Ephemeral Environments to the Autonomous Operations Factory

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- StackGen, the autonomous operations company, today announced it has acquired Shipyard, the ephemeral environments platform used by engineering teams at fast growing startups like Rippit and major enterprises like PepsiCo. Shipyard creates a full-stack environment for every pull request and removes it on merge. Shipyard's engineering and customer team joins StackGen, and the product continues for existing and new customers as Shipyard by StackGen, while Shipyard will also power new capabilities for StackGen's Autonomous Operations Factory. Terms were not disclosed.

AI agents now write a growing share of code and propose more of the changes that reach production. StackGen & Shipyard believe every one of those changes should run somewhere real before it ships. Shipyard gives teams that place: an isolated environment built from the application's own definition, where a change is tested against the full stack and then thrown away. Engineers get their own environment on every pull request, wired into the GitHub and GitLab workflows they already use.

Shipyard works at the pull request, where a change starts its path to production. StackGen's Autonomous Operations Factory coordinates Aiden agents for infrastructure, delivery, observability and incident response on a shared world model. StackGen will bring Shipyard's environments into the factory as the place those agents prove a change before it reaches a live system.
