Sibling Group & NEWCO4EDUCATION Adopt STEM Curriculum Plans; Search for Technology, Business Acquisitions Goes International
NEW YORK, and ATLANTA, Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NEWCO4EDUCATION, the operating subsidiary of Sibling Group Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB:SIBE) ("the Company"), announced that it intends to immediately embark on the development of a dedicated STEM (S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) compatible curriculum as a key component of its computer-based education (CBE) online course delivery system, and within its school operations.
Separately, it announced that it intends to seek technology solutions on a world wide basis, and is reviewing a number of potential acquisition and licensing situations. The international business review and development will be headed by Michael Hanlon, who recently joined the Board of Directors, and is a Key Advisor to the Company with regard to international markets. The international situations under consideration include technology, consulting, and teaching operations, through both private entities, and through governmental bodies.
"Education is an international topic, and there are no boundaries. Clearly investors worldwide see education as a new 'asset class,' no different than real estate, minerals, equities or bonds," said Mr. Hanlon, who maintains offices in both the US and Dublin, Ireland. He continued, "As we look at both technology-based learning and more traditional teacher focused operations, we are seeing situations in many parts of the world that look identical to those in the US. Clearly education a global need, and the demand is equally strong here, and abroad, and we intend to participate."
With regard to its STEM initiative, Gerald Sullivan, Chairman of Sibling, made these comments: "We recognize the value of STEM schooling as we embrace a strategy aimed at improving the competitive posture of students in a world economy. We intend to develop the online course-ware, and teaching environment, that will enable scalable deployment of STEM schooling, both within our owned, or operated, school sites, and for the benefit of other schools who seek high performance teaching, both domestically and abroad," explained Sullivan.
For those readers who are unfamiliar with STEM teaching approaches, the Company suggests this discussion, which is taken from the STEM School Blog (http://www.stemschool.com/2009/04/what-is-stem-school.html):
S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and a STEM School focuses on these subjects to help our nation's youth gain the skills required to succeed in today's challenging world. This includes the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and drive advancements in science and technology.
While the future stability of our economy is unknown and we currently face an economic downturn, parents will take comfort in knowing that science and engineering jobs are growing 70 percent faster than other occupations. This means STEM School students will be at an advantage when competing for the high-tech, high-wage jobs of the future.
This program was fueled by America's high demand for educated individuals to fill the job openings requiring highly skilled STEM workers in order to keep some of the nation's most innovative companies right here in the U.S.
STEM Schools are now emerging across the nation, state by state, to keep America ranked as one of the leading nations in technological breakthroughs and scientific research. However, just like all important programs, funding can often be scarce or inadequate. As of right now, private investors and state programs are scraping together enough money to advance the STEM School program because they understand that investing in our nation's education is one of the most important strategies for maintaining a strong, stable economy in the future.
