Sidoti Moves at Full Speed with Its Micro-Cap Initiative
NEW YORK, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Sidoti & Company, LLC announces its commitment to bridging the gap between institutional investors and the micro-cap sector of the equity market. On June 25, Sidoti will sponsor its second conference featuring companies with market capitalizations below $200 million. Also, during the next three months, the firm will unveil research coverage of micro-cap equities, beginning with 30 names. States CEO Peter Sidoti, "We think our dedication to independence and quality will mark a sea change in the information flow between institutional investors and the smallest publicly-traded companies."
The June 25 Sidoti & Company, LLC Semiannual Micro-Cap Conference will carry on the excitement generated by its January 11, 2010 predecessor. So enthusiastic was the response to that inaugural event (more than 325 investors attended, and many presenters requested a spot at the next meeting) that even Mr. Sidoti, a long-time champion of micro-caps, was surprised.
Wall Street has largely ignored micro-caps because of liquidity and trading concerns. In 1999, there were similar qualms about small-cap equities, yet that is when Sidoti & Company, LLC opened its doors to focus on those very names. Now Sidoti is one of the Street's most important providers of small-cap equity research. The firm is profitable, growing and evolving, with more than 50 analysts covering nearly 600 names.
Mr. Sidoti and Marie Conway, the firm's president, see micro-caps as a treasure trove. Thus, they are following the formula they applied to small-caps to leverage Sidoti's distribution and research expertise in the micro-cap arena. Five new micro-cap analysts are hard at work, and plans for the June 25 conference are well underway. The firm is determined to raise investors' awareness of micro-cap values. Rejecting the notion that these investments are unworthy of investors' attention, Peter Sidoti declares, "Thousands of micro-cap companies meet or exceed their large-cap brethren in terms of favorable P/E ratio, strong cash flow, and low debt." The trick, of course, is identifying those companies, and that is why the June 25 conference is a "must-attend" for bankers, investor relations experts, investment advisors, and institutional investors.
To be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in midtown Manhattan, the conference will sustain Sidoti's micro-cap momentum by unraveling the mysteries of this sector and presenting a host of superior opportunities. Investors will hear approximately 100 intriguing stories representing an array of industry sectors, meet one on one with leaders of these companies and enjoy abundant chances for networking and information gathering.
The June 25 Micro-Cap Conference is the latest addition to Sidoti & Company LLC's well-regarded conference series. This year already saw the 14th Annual New York Emerging Growth Conference on March 23-24. Two other Emerging Growth Conferences are slated for this year, the Ninth Annual West Coast Emerging Growth II Forum in San Francisco (September) and the New York Emerging Growth II Conference in New York City (November). Lynn Orenstein, who has run successful Sidoti meetings for many years, will coordinate the upcoming events.
