Sigma Labs, Inc. Announces Two New Patent Awards For Lighter And More Energetic Munitions

SANTA FE, N.M., Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sigma Labs, Inc. (OTCBB: SGLB) announced today that is has been awarded two U.S. Patents.  The first award is for a new class of reactive material known as ARMS - Advanced Reactive Materials and Structures - that could be very useful for the future design of more energetic munitions able to deliver equivalent explosive power in a device of roughly half of the weight.  Further, the technology has relevance in the reduction of weight in the manufacture of parts for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).  Vivek Dave, Executive Vice President of Sigma Labs, stated that, "Part of the basis for our patent includes the processing method by which we developed our reactive structural material.  It is a very economical manufacturing method compared to such methods like powder metallurgy and it can be scaled to virtually any production volume."  The second patent award was for Sigma Labs' BAM - Bonded Advanced Munition - technology which is ideally suited for use in projectiles like bullets or warheads for missiles requiring increased behind armor effects.  Sigma Labs intends to seek licensing partnerships to help commercialize and take these technologies to market.  There can be no assurance, however, that Sigma Labs will enter into a definitive license agreement.
