Singapore Economic Development Board Appoints New Regional Director for Western U.S.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), today announced the appointment of Ih-Ming Chan as Regional Director for the Western United States, Western Canada and Central America. EDB is the lead government agency responsible for developing and implementing strategies shaping the future of Singapore's economy and enhancing its position as a global business center. Chan will lead the agency's operations in the West Coast from EDB's San Francisco office and will be responsible for investment promotion and facilitating business partnerships between Singapore and the United States.

Prior to this role, Chan was the Center Director for the Americas for EDB where he focused on promotion activity from Washington State and biomedical sciences, consumer and professional businesses in Northern California. He also spent three years at EDB's Medical Technology (MedTech) group within its Biomedical Sciences industry cluster facilitating the development of the research tools and scientific instrumentation sector in Singapore.  

Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Magna cum Laude) in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University, and a Master of Science in Bioengineering from Stanford University.
