Singles Day On Dealmoon.com Attracts 600% Increase in U.S. Retailer Participants Since Debuting in America

DALLAS, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- After Alibaba made Singles Day into an online shopping phenomenon, Dealmoon.com was credited with bringing it the U.S., and this year brought 180 U.S. retailers to the site with exclusive Singles Day offers; a 600% increase compared to only 30 in 2013. Though we are waiting for a final reporting from our vendors, we estimate that our merchant sales were 5 times more than last year. Many of our high-end luxury beauty and skincare merchants even exceeded sales expectation for Black Friday and others sold out entire inventories on their site. Aside from our robust new U.S. shoppers, the heaviest traffic we generated came from China, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom and New Zealand."

Singles Day sales surpassed Cyber Monday by four times in 2014 ($9 billion vs. $2.65 billion) to become the biggest online shopping day. Black Friday still tops both at sales of $50.9 billion (2014), but the numbers of ^[1]people who are shopping in brick and mortar retail environments has halved down to 26.5 million in 2014 from 45 million in 2013. 

"When the dust settles post Black Friday and Cyber Monday and we get a final accounting," added Wang, "it will be interesting to see which phenomenon wins out."
