Skout's National Friendship Week Survey Reveals How Far People Will Go to Support Their Friends

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- People will go to great lengths for love, but what about for friendship? How devoted to their friends are most people? In celebration of National Friendship Week, observed during the third week of August, Skout, the leading global app that helps you meet new people and expand your social circle, conducted a survey among nearly 1,500 people who use Skout in the U.S. and found that people are willing to do some pretty crazy things to help out a good friend.

Highlights from Skout's National Friendship Week survey include:

Waxing – it's not just for the pros!

84% of women are willing to help a friend when it comes to hair removal.
54% of men say they'd help a friend with "manscaping."

Friends say they can spare a kidney.

81% of people are willing to donate their kidney to a friend in need, if they are a match.

Besties before beers.

59% of people are willing to skip alcoholic beverages themselves in support of a friend who's on the wagon.

Friends will jump out of a plane for friendship.

56% of people would find a way to overcome a fear of heights if a good friend wanted to go skydiving.

Car trouble? Call a friend.

92% of people would drop whatever they are doing to help a friend with a broken-down car.

Friends are honest, even if you don't want to hear it.

92% of people would tell their friend if they were wearing a questionable outfit.

Friends will help you move – even if that means missing the biggest sporting event of the year!

77% of people would help a friend move, even if it were on the same day as the most popular football game of the year.

However, there are some limitations when it comes to friendship, and here are a few of them:

Matching tattoos: 46% of people said they would be open to getting matching tattoos with a good friend.
Moving to a new city with a friend: 38% of people would consider moving to a different city to follow their friend.
Breaking up with a new flame: 39% of people say they would break up with a boyfriend or girlfriend because their good friend didn't like him/her.
