SkyWest, Inc. Reports Combined May 2015 Traffic For SkyWest Airlines And ExpressJet Airlines
ST. GEORGE, Utah, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) ("SkyWest") today reported 177,967 block hours in May 2015, compared to 192,838 block hours in May 2014, a decrease of 14,871, or 7.7%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest's fleet transition plan of adding new dual class aircraft to its fleet, while reducing its 50-seat and 30-seat aircraft. The month-over-month net change included approximately 9,300 additional block hours from its additional 76-seat E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 23,700 block hours from a reduction in its 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft operating fleet.
In May 2015, SkyWest's dual class aircraft (CRJ700s, CRJ900s and E175s) represented approximately 37% of SkyWest's total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 29% for the month of May 2014.
SkyWest reported 871,452 block hours for YTD May 2015, compared to 928,877 block hours for YTD May 2014, a decrease of 57,425, or 6.2%. The YTD net change included approximately 36,900 additional block hours from SkyWest's 76-seat E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 92,600 block hours from fewer 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft in its operating fleet.
SkyWest had 105,011 departures in May 2015 compared to 116,743 in May 2014, a decrease of 11,732, or 10.0%. SkyWest also reported 3.08 billion in available seat miles (ASMs) for May 2015, compared to 3.25 billion in ASMs for May 2014, or a 5.1% decrease.
SkyWest reported 2.60 billion in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for May 2015, compared to 2.73 billion in RPMs for May 2014, or a 4.7% decrease. SkyWest also reported 4,936,999 in passenger boardings for May 2015, compared to 5,151,425 in passenger boardings for May 2014, or a 4.2% decrease. Load factor increased to 84.5 percent in May 2015 compared to 84.1 percent in May 2014.
