SkyWest, Inc. Reports Combined September 2016 Traffic for SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Oct. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) ("SkyWest") today reported 154,095 block hours in September 2016, compared to 162,742 block hours in September 2015, a decrease of 8,647 or 5.3%.  The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest's fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new E175 aircraft, while reducing its 50-seat jets.

The year-over-year net change was primarily driven by approximately 6,600 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 15,200 block hours from its other aircraft types.   

In September 2016, SkyWest's dual class aircraft represented approximately 42% of SkyWest's total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 39% for the month of September 2015.       

SkyWest reported 1,473,756 block hours for year-to-date September 2016, compared to 1,574,364 block hours year-to-date September 2015, a decrease of 100,608, or 6.4%.  This net change was primarily driven by approximately 66,100 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 166,700 block hours from its other aircraft types.

SkyWest had 93,140 departures in September 2016 compared to 98,005 in September 2015, a decrease of 4,865, or 5.0%.  SkyWest generated 2.72 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for September 2016, compared to 2.87 billion ASMs for September 2015, or a 5.1% decrease.
