NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical marijuana also called medical cannabis has become increasingly popular with patients who have ailments ranging from arthritis to PTSD. A company in New Port Richey, FL, wants to help patients cook with cannabis using their first-of-its-kind invention. Up until now, consumers had to use several appliances to do everything that Slow-Mix can do.

Slow-Mix is the only countertop appliance that creates herbal infusions, tinctures, full extract oils, and edibles all in one device. The Slow-Mix machine extracts chemical compounds from cannabis and other herbs, such basil or oregano, and infuses them into butters, oils, and more. Stirring is made easy using the detachable mixing paddle. Slow-Mix uses convection heat to dehydrate, bake, and air fry foods.

Slow-Mix was founded in 2015 by Jason and Mary Young. The couple got the idea after making cannabis oil to treat Mary's Crohn's disease. "Full extract cannabis oil has changed my life and put my Crohn's into complete remission," said Mary Young. On October 18, 2016, Jason and Mary Young were awarded a US Patent for their invention, 'Tincture preparation method and use.'

"Cooking with cannabis has never been easier," said Jason Young. Slow-Mix uses heat to activate the tetrahydrocannabinol or THC in cannabis through a process called decarboxylation. Then, the cannabis is ready to be infused into butter. Finally, the infused butter is used to bake edibles such as brownies. Every step of the process is done using Slow-Mix. "It's an all-in-one cooker," Mary said.

Jason and Mary often prepare meals using their state-of-the-art prototype as a replacement for several kitchen appliances. "Designing Slow-Mix with the added ability to dehydrate foods was exciting," Jason said, going on to point out that there are not that many kitchen appliances with multiple uses.

The couple are raising the funds needed to manufacture Slow-Mix. They have launched a crowdfunding campaign through the website Kickstarter. Early bird specials and regular specials are available from now until December 22, 2018.
