Smile Generation® Approved Offices Participate in Smile Generation Serve Day

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 90 Smile Generation approved dentist offices and 1200 volunteers, including over 125 Pacific Dental Services affiliated dentists served their communities on August 13, by participating in the first-ever Smile Generation Serve Day. The dental offices provided pro-bono treatment to those in need, and were able to help over 750 people during this community outreach event.  In total they provided over $850,000 in free dentistry.

The Smile Generation approved offices teamed up with local organizations such as churches, non-profits, women shelters, and youth centers to assist in making this day a huge success. The community partners assisted in identifying individuals that were in need of basic dental care.

"Smile Generation Serve Day is a day of giving back to our community, and that's something that the Smile Generation is very passionate about," said Smile Generation Founder Stephen Thorne. "All of the treatment provided was completely free. We were able to provide $850,000 in dentistry but we're not done, we have a number of approved offices who plan to do a day of free dentistry in the next few weeks.  We hope to get over 1 million dollars in donated dentistry."

Nation-wide, patients received everything ranging from cleanings, exams, and x-rays to extractions, fillings, and crowns.   The supplies for these treatments were generously donated by Henry Schein® Dental, Ivoclar Vivadent®, and Vident™.

Also partnering with the Smile Generation on Smile Generation Serve Day was United Concordia Dental.  "We are pleased to partner with The Smile Generation on the first-ever Smile Generation Serve Day. Together, we are providing a variety of free dental services — from exams to cleanings, x-rays to oral hygiene instruction – to individuals with minimal or no insurance," said Julia Mallory, community outreach representative for United Concordia Dental. Smile Generation approved offices are preferred providers for United Concordia Dental.
