Smith Publicity Celebrates 15 Years in Business and 1,500 Books Promoted
CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Smith Publicity, the publishing industry's leading book marketing and publicity agency, celebrates its 15th year of operation in 2012 and in May promoted its 1,500th book.
Launched in 1997 by Dan Smith in a tiny bedroom office with one client, Smith Publicity has enjoyed 15 consecutive years of growth and now has offices in New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and London. In 2007 the firm launched its U.K. operation with London-based publicists, and in 2011 established a Canadian presence with a Toronto-based office.
Smith Publicity has implemented book promotion campaigns for books from every genre, and among the 1500 promoted are various New York Times bestsellers including Boardwalk Empire, the book upon which the popular HBO series is based, The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook, and Jeff Foxworthy's Hide!!!.
"We are truly an 'equal-opportunity for authors' book publicity agency, working with self-published authors back in 1998 when no other agency would touch them," says CEO Dan Smith. "We've worked with major publishers, self-published authors, university presses and everything in between. We've made unknown, first-time, self-published authors nationally famous, and helped celebrity authors become bestsellers."
"Compared to other firms who specialize in book marketing, we're the largest in the industry, with eighteen publicists in three countries," adds Sandra Poirier-Diaz, President of Smith Publicity. "But we're still a small company that prides itself on unparalleled, personalized customer service."
As far as the future, Smith intends to continue to adapt to the evolving publishing industry, while adhering to a book publicity and author marketing promotional style that has essentially remained unchanged for its 15 years.
"The fundamentals of our unique style of book marketing premised on creativity, relentlessness, and even our widely-recognized and very distinct press release format haven't changed," notes Smith. "But with new publishing technologies, the surge in e-books, social networking, and changes in the media landscape, we are always adjusting, adding new services and enhancing our existing ones."
