Social Interest Solutions Appoints John Caterham President and CEO
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Social Interest Solutions (SIS) today named John G. Caterham its first president and chief executive officer effective October 31. SIS is tapping Mr. Caterham, an IT veteran with significant leadership experience across industries, to leverage the nonprofit organization's unique policy mission and successful IT services into growth opportunities for the Sacramento-based company. Mr. Caterham will be responsible for the strategic planning, daily operations, financial results and overall management of the organization, which is dedicated to modernizing enrollment in public programs for millions of underserved people.

A national leader in the health IT field, SIS has helped improve how low-income people connect to health and human services benefits through its innovative use of technology and policy reform efforts. It is currently working with several states to support health coverage enrollment under the Affordable Care Act. Mr. Caterham's arrival marks the end of a national CEO search prompted by an extensive strategic assessment to ensure SIS continues its strong service to clients, funders, policy makers and employees as health reform further transforms the ever-changing healthcare landscape.

Mr. Caterham is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of experience in developing and managing operations and consulting practices for government and in the private sector. Prior to joining SIS, most recently he spent six years at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), in the North American Public Sector, as Account General Manager where his responsibilities included management of New York State's Medicaid Fiscal Agent contract, and deployment of the federal Meaningful Use program for New York State. He was also instrumental in securing the contract for implementing and operating New York's health insurance exchange, which launched on October 1.
Prior to that, Mr. Caterham served as Managing Director and affiliate CIO at CH2M Hill, a $13B engineering design, construction and consulting company with engineering and construction projects worldwide. As CIO for the affiliate, Kaiser-Hill, he led the management team through four years of process improvements and innovative application of technologies contributing to a very successful Department of Energy Site closure of Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant facility; a $3.6B federal project. As Director of Information Technology at American Medical Response, Mr. Caterham led IT operations nationally for Emergency Medical Transport, establishing the IT organizational framework and enabling rapid development and implementation supporting the company's rapid growth to become the largest emergency transporter in the world at that time. His career spans technology leadership within the healthcare, engineering, environmental, insurance and manufacturing sectors among some of the world's leading companies including First Consulting Group, KPMG, Deloitte, UNUM and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Mr. Caterham's academic background includes a degree in nuclear engineering (BS) and semesters of study in the master of management science (MS) degree program, both from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Mass. He is a former certified project management professional (PMP).
