Societe de Chimie Industrielle welcomes new Board Members
NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Societe de Chimie Industrielle is pleased to announce the results of recent elections of new Officers and Board Members, held during the group's annual meeting on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Yale Club of New York.
The followingmembers were re-elected as Officers: President: Dwight Glover; VP Administration: James M. Weatherall; VP Finance: Alfred A. Sagarese; VP Membership: Joseph V. Porcelli.
In addition, three current Board Members were re-elected to serve additional three-year terms: Madeleine Jacobs, Joseph V. Porcelli, and Alfred A. Sagarese.
Three new members were also elected to join the Board: Jeanne Thoma, Joel W. Jones, and Robert O. Kenworthy.
- Jeanne Thoma is chief operating officer of Lonza's Microbial Control sector (LMC), created following the acquisition of Arch Chemicals, where she is responsible for shaping the organizational structure of the Microbial Control sector. Since 2007, she has been global head of the Microbial Control business unit and president of Lonza Inc.
- Joel W. Jones is the Global Corporate Account Executive North American Sales, Basic Chemicals & Performance Materials at The Dow Chemical Company, where he serves as Dow's Account Executive for BASF in North America, Brenntag Group globally and Air Products globally. He is a former President of The Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies (DCAT) Association, as well as a Past President of The Chemists' Club.
- Robert O. Kenworthy is retained by the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia (CHF) as its Manager of Affiliate Relations. He also provides support for CHF's Joseph Priestley Society, and is responsible for building the presence of CHF outside of the Philadelphia area.
Continuing Board members are: Ray Altenburger, William N. Avrin, Joseph L. Coote, James Harton, Marc S. Reisch, John E. Roberts, and Peter Young.
At the Annual Meeting, president Dwight Glover presented to the group an update on Societe activities in 2012, followed by two special guest speakers: Catherine Price, Societe Fellow at the Chemical Heritage Foundation, who presented insights from her forthcoming book about the history of vitamins and nutrition for The Penguin Press; and Brian Swiggett, Managing Partner of Prismark Partners LLC, who spoke on "Opportunities within the Electronic Materials Market".
Please mark your calendars: On Wednesday, January 16, 2012, the Societe will be pleased to welcome Cal Dooley, President and CEO of the American Chemistry Council, to present on the topic of "The Economy and the Chemical Industry." The meeting will be held at the Yale Club of New York.
On Wednesday, February 20, 2012 the Societe meeting will be co-hosted with the Racemics organization and will feature Robert Westervelt, Editor-in-Chief of IHS Chemical Week; Joseph Chang, Global Editor, ICIS Chemical Business; and Peter Young, President and Managing Director, Young & Partners. The topic will be "The State of the Chemical Industry: Outlook for 2013 and Beyond." The meeting will also be held at the Yale Club of New York.
On May 9, 2013 the Societe will award the prestigious International Palladium Medal to Andrew Liveris, Chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, at a dinner to be held in his honor at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
