KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In addition to providing industry-leading mortgage and senior living solutions, SoftVu has prioritized activities focused around fundraising and philanthropy in 2017. With the creation of the VuGooders, a name for our community minded team members, SoftVu is making an important impact in several charitable ways.
In June, SoftVu hosted its Mortgage Innovation Summit, an event conducted annually that allows mortgage executives and entrepreneurs from around the country to present and show their ideas sparked by innovation and insight. Each year, the summit raises money for a worthy cause. Last year's event raised $5,000 for Kansas City Royals' General Manager, Dayton Moore's charitable organization C You In the Major Leagues Foundation. This year, the non-profit organization Mortgage Professionals Providing Hope (MPPH) reaped the benefits through a live auction and raffle reaching the summit's fundraising goal of $15,000 and then some.
The $15,000 raised by those donating at the Mortgage Innovation Summit will benefit the three MPPH causes in need of help: $5,175 went to the building of a new play place for preschoolers in Guatemala, $5,040 provided a year's worth of school, shelter and food for 12 children in rural India and $4,860 went to secure permanent housing for five American families who recently became homeless.
"Thank you SoftVu for helping MPPH raise funds through the 2017 Mortgage Innovation Summit," said Dale Vermillion, Founder and CEO of Mortgage Professionals Providing Hope. "So much good work can now be done," Vermillion continued. "We are so grateful for the generosity of those who attended the summit. We're honored to have such awesome companies and individuals join our Force for Good!"
Earlier this year, SoftVu partnered with neighboring companies in Kansas City's Crossroads District for the 2017 Crossroads Charity Championship, benefitting Giving the Basics. Giving the Basics is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing human dignity products for other organizations in need.
The championship was held on the First Friday in May, and, all together, 9,419 human dignity items (toothbrushes, shampoo, laundry detergent) were donated, along with an additional 1,945 in monetary donations. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City took home the gold with an astonishing 6,561 items.
Lastly, SoftVu again partnered with its neighbors of the Crossroads for Summer Bowl for Kid's Sake, hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. SoftVu created five bowling teams from its everyday VuGooders, each with the goal of raising $1,200. Thus far, the VuGooders raised $7,080 and funds are still being collected.
"Our team members do an amazing job working together every day at SoftVu, but with our senior living and our mortgage lending lines of the business, many team members don't get to work across the aisle," Tim Donnelly, CEO of SoftVu, said. "Our company is growing rapidly. A challenge like this builds camaraderie AND helps the Greater Good, something very important to all of us here."
Donnelly is known for his motto: "Work to live, live to serve the Greater Good". With his leadership and the company's support the VuGooders have whole-heartedly adopted the CEO's giving mind-set with their actions. This year, the VuGooders have raised more than $22,000, plus, have given hundreds of items and hundreds of hours to the above worthy causes.
