Sojourner Mobile App Helps Barclays with Volunteer Event Collaboration and Communication

SOMERSET, N.J., Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Barclays golf tournament worked with Sojourner Mobile Communications, part of Sita Corp's global data, analytics and mobile communications firm, to develop a mobile event app to improve collaboration and communications for more than 1,500 volunteers and moving towards a Go Green event. The customized app was created within days and deployed to support the volunteers during the week that they were helping out with The Barclays 2013 event.

The mobile app improved volunteer and event communications, delivered a robust approximately 48 percent adoption rate among event organizers and volunteers and lessened the phone calls received regarding questions about where to go and what to do. The Barclays has a future goal of lessening approximately 54,000 pages being printed for their event's signature handbook, daily event schedules, course map, contact information and guidelines booklet for staff and volunteers.

When fire broke out near the volunteer parking, we were able to send an alert that the fire was contained and the volunteers could resume their normal schedule."

The customized app also featured a simple eight-icon design which displayed the shuttle schedule, live chat, course map of where to go for their assigned task and a copy of The Barclays handbook. The volunteer app required no training or user manual.
