Solix, Inc. Completes Successful SAS 70 Audit
Voluntary Independent Review Affirms Effectiveness of Internal Controls
PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Solix, Inc., a leading provider of government and commercial process outsourcing solutions that administers more than $6 billion on behalf of its clients, today announced it has successfully completed a Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II audit. The audit, which is a detailed examination of Solix' internal controls, focused on the company's services for two significant federal programs that provide funding for Internet access and telecommunications support for schools, libraries and rural health care providers. The audit was conducted by a nationally recognized independent auditing firm.
"Solix has earned the confidence of its clients through demonstrating its commitment to excellent customer service, reliability and the integrity of our processes," said John C. Parry, Solix President and Chief Executive Officer. "Voluntarily pursuing SAS 70 compliance and successfully attaining it is another example of the high standards we hold ourselves to in our efforts to provide the best service to our clients."
SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). SAS 70 verifies a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and control activities. A successful SAS 70 audit is viewed as meeting the strict requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 in assuring the effectiveness of internal controls at services organizations.
"With its establishment of strong controls for operations, SAS 70 is a rigorous and impartial audit that provides additional assurance to our customers," said Cathy Rahlfs, Solix Corporate Compliance Officer. "This independent audit validates Solix' dedication to ensuring we serve our customers securely and effectively."
Solix manages the operation of the Schools and Libraries Program for the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), the administrator of the program for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The program provides funding support to approximately 105,000 schools and 12,000 libraries in the United States and its territories. Solix also manages the operation of the Rural Health Care Program for USAC that provides reduced rates to rural health care providers for telecommunications and Internet services necessary for the provision of health care delivery.
Government clients choose Solix to manage public benefit programs ranging from funding for Internet access for schools, libraries and rural healthcare facilities to qualifying low-income consumers for discounted utility services and reviewing grant requests. Commercial clients choose Solix to enhance customer relationship management and to deliver comprehensive solutions to help them efficiently satisfy regulatory program requirements.
