NEW YORK, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The sunglass specialty retailer SOLSTICE Sunglasses, along with Carrera sunglasses and Italian eyewear manufacturer Safilo Group, will celebrate the Summer Solstice and the U.S. launch of the Carrera 6000 sunglass collection with a two-day "Celebrate Summer Solstice" event in New York City's Meatpacking District on Wednesday, June 20th from 3:00-10:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, June 21st from 1:00-8:00 p.m.  Open to the general public, the event will be held at the Gansevoort Plaza public space located at 9th Avenue and Gansevoort Street.

New Yorkers and out-of-town visitors are invited to keep cool during the "Celebrate Summer Solstice" event with complimentary summery refreshments served throughout the day while listening to the hottest beats by some of the world's most renown DJs, including:  Mia Morretti, Solange Knowles, Michaelangelo, Jeffrey Tonnesen, Nina Sky, Theophilus London & Brendan Fallis, DJ Equal, Timo & Alan, Mike Nouveau, Ra Ra Riot, The Jane Doze and Mick Boogie.

Not-to-be-missed high-energy, free-running performances by acclaimed professional Parkour troupe will also take place every hour on the hour for all to enjoy beginning at 5pm on Wednesday, June 20th.
