Somerset Independent School District (ISD) Goes Paperless

Somerset Independent School District (SISD) was established in 1922 after merging several small districts in the area. It consists of 85 square miles encompassing a southwest portion of Bexar County and a northwest portion of Atascosa County. Currently Somerset ISD is comprised of seven campuses that house students in grades ranging from Pre K-3 through 12th grade.

Somerset ISD like so many school districts across the country is challenged with storing and managing hundreds of thousands of paper documents used across their Finance, HR and Student Records departments. These documents are currently stored onsite in makeshift records room, an old unused gym that holds more than 2000 storage boxes. In addition, the district spends thousands of dollars each year to an outside storage facility to maintain archived documents, some of which like student records must be kept for up to 100 years to meet stringent compliance regulations.
