Sounders FC and Outerwall Extend Donations for Veterans
Goals Score Benefits for Fisher House Foundation
SEATTLE, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sounders FC and Outerwall Inc. (Nasdaq: OUTR) are extending their support of Fisher House Foundation and will donate $1,500 for every goal the team scores away or at home in the 2014 MLS Western Conference Finals. Fisher House Foundation is a network of comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.
Outerwall and Sounders FC initially pledged to donate $1,500 each time Sounders FC scored a goal against FC Dallas during the MLS Western Conference Semifinals at CenturyLink Field on November 10. However, that match ended with a scoreless draw and Sounders FC advanced to face rival LA Galaxy in the 2014 MLS Western Conference Finals.
The First Leg of the 2014 MLS Western Conference Finals will be played at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on Sunday, November 23. Sounders FC will host the Second Leg of the two-match series on Sunday, November 30.
For each goal they score, Sounders FC will also donate four tickets to a 2015 home match and four tickets to the Field Club pre-match experience.
If a match goes to a shootout and Sounders FC wins, Outerwall and Sounders FC will count that the total number of penalty kicks as one goal and make the same donations as if a goal was scored.
The donations will support military families at both the Veteran Affairs Puget Sound Fisher House and the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Fisher House.
In addition, Outerwall will honor veterans continuously throughout the game on Sunday, November 30, with field-level LED signage displaying the message, "For every goal Sounders FC score during the Western Conference Finals, Outerwall and Sounders FC will donate $1500 to the Fisher House Foundation. "
Fisher House is an Outerwall Community Connection grantee and received more than $15,000 in support this year from Outerwall.
