Speakers and panelists will include screenwriter Alvaro Rodriguez (keynote); Andrew Richey, a Southwestern alumnus and producer of the CBS drama Code Black; Heather Page, Texas Film Commission Director; Meredith Johns, Emmy-award-nominated makeup artist; and RJ Freitag, a post-production sound mixer who has worked on trailers for The Hunger Games and Django Unchained, among others.
"On behalf of Southwestern University, we are proud to host this year's Central Texas Film Conference," Megan Frisque, Southwestern's associate vice president of university relations, alumni and parents, said. "The film industry is a great example of the liberal arts in a professional context, as multiple scholarship areas such as economics, writing, theater, communications and science are necessary for success in film."
Attendees will have opportunities to learn about screenwriting, auditioning techniques and pitching stories from industry leaders like Francois Larosa, Karen Hallford and Owen Egerton. In the afternoon, attendees will have an opportunity to pitch story ideas and meet the speakers.
Registration is required to attend. Tickets are $40 for professional attendees and $20 for student (college or high school) attendees. All ticket prices include conference admission, continental breakfast, lunch and snacks. For more information on The Central Texas Film Conference and to register, please visit www.southwestern.edu.
