Southwestern University Hosts Central Texas Film Conference

GEORGETOWN, Texas, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwestern University will host The Central Texas Film Conference on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Red & Charline McCombs Campus Center. The inaugural conference, presented by Dr. Sherwin Kahn, will feature speakers from around the state who work within various aspects of the film industry and will provide a unique, hands-on experience for future and current filmmakers.

Speakers and panelists will include screenwriter Alvaro Rodriguez (keynote); Andrew Richey, a Southwestern alumnus and producer of the CBS drama Code Black; Heather Page, Texas Film Commission Director; Meredith Johns, Emmy-award-nominated makeup artist; and RJ Freitag, a post-production sound mixer who has worked on trailers for The Hunger Games and Django Unchained, among others.

Attendees will have opportunities to learn about screenwriting, auditioning techniques and pitching stories from industry leaders like Francois Larosa, Karen Hallford and Owen Egerton. In the afternoon, attendees will have an opportunity to pitch story ideas and meet the speakers.

Registration is required to attend. Tickets are $40 for professional attendees and $20 for student (college or high school) attendees. All ticket prices include conference admission, continental breakfast, lunch and snacks.
