Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica rolls out Smartcool's Energy Savings Module

VANCOUVER, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSXV: SSC) is pleased to announce the recent signing of a contract between its Spanish sales channel Enertek, and the largest Spanish telecoms service provider Telefónica Espana, for the implementation of Smartcool's Energy Savings Module(TM) (ESM(TM)) technology to over 40 site locations within the Spanish regions of Madrid, Catalunya, Pais Vasco and Valencia.

The contract, signed in early December, calls for the installation of the ESM units to be concluded by the end of February 2010. Telefónica S.A. is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. Its activities are centred mainly on the fixed and mobile telecommunications industry, while its broadband business is the key growth driver underpinning both. The company operates in 25 countries boasting a customer base exceeding 268 million across the globe.
