Spark Energy Acquires Substantial Portion of Abacus Resources Energy Customer Base

HOUSTON, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Spark Energy, an independent nation-wide certified retail energy and natural gas supplier, today announced that it has acquired the majority of the Abacus Resources Energy customer base. Approximately 6,200 customers will experience no disruption of service during this transition. Abacus Resources Energy will cease commercial operations effective this month.

Customers that were under contract with Abacus Resources Energy will continue to receive service under the same terms until that contract expires. At any time they can choose from a number of Spark Energy pricing plans. If the customer is not currently under contract, Spark Energy will automatically enroll these customers in a very competitive 12 Month Fixed Rate Plan, one of the lowest published fixed rates in the industry.

"Whatever course of action a customer chooses, they will not incur any change fees and there will be no interruption of service," continued Mr. Kroeker.

The affected customers will receive a notification in the next few days providing relevant details. Spark Energy will confirm that the switch has been successfully completed and provide a coupon for a credit on their Spark Energy bill.
