Spencer Educational Foundation Announces 2012 Gala Honorees: Seraina Maag, David Zuercher
NEW YORK, July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Spencer Educational Foundation, Inc. will host its fourth annual fundraising gala on September 12, 2012, at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. During the event, the foundation will honor Seraina Maag, chief executive – North America property and casualty for XL Insurance, and David Zuercher, retired head of insurance for Wells Fargo and Company, for their contributions to the advancement of risk management and insurance educational opportunities.
Maag directs XL Group's multiline property & casualty operations, including underwriting activities for Property, U.S. Risk Management, Excess Casualty, Construction, Surety, Programs, Environmental and Excess & Surplus coverages in the U.S., Canada and Bermuda. She also has held leadership positions at Zurich North America. In addition to being named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, she holds an MBA from Monash Mt. Eliza Business School in Australia and is also a Certified Financial Analyst Charterholder.
Zuercher is a retired executive of Wells Fargo & Company, where he worked for 43 years. From 1993 until 2011 he managed Wells Fargo's 11,000 team member International & Insurance Services business group and was chairman of Wells Fargo Insurance Services, which was ranked the fifth largest insurance brokerage in the world. He currently serves on a number of non-profit boards in Southern California. Zuercher graduated from Loyola Marymount University, where he is currently a member of its Board of Trustees.
