Social Mobile Music App Maker to Open Silicon Valley Offices to Tap Technical and Creative Talent Center
LONDON, Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Spinlet, the provider of innovative, cloud-based music distribution and storage applications, announced today that it is setting up offices in California's Silicon Valley this month and will be moving its senior management team from London and Tampere, Finland to the global high tech hub.
"Spinlet wants to take advantage of the close proximity between the entertainment industry and the Silicon Valley by tapping into the enormous technical talent and creative resources available in the region," said Spinlet Director, Eric Idiahi. "We are a global business with a major focus on emerging markets, but we also recognize the importance of being located in the epicenter of global innovation. Spinlet will hire in the best smartphone application developers and innovators from Silicon Valley and partner with all major and independent music labels to expand our catalogue of songs."
Spinlet is a downloadable application that enables consumers to browse and listen to their favorite music on their mobile phones. Spinlet consumers can remotely store, manage and listen to music from anywhere using any mobile device. Via the Spinlet Music Cloud portal, users can also create playlists, stream and seamlessly synch music tracks across devices as well as share their favorite titles using social networking sites, like Facebook.
Founded in 2006 by Sami Leino and Ville Leino in Finland, Spinlet recently received a significant funding boost from Nigerian-based emerging markets investment firm Verod Capital Management Limited, to assist with its goal of global expansion.
Further expanding on the company's strategy, Spinlet's co-founder and COO Sami Leino added, "Our music distribution platform democratizes music sales and distribution by making both international and local music available to the vast majority of customers whose primary music listening device will be the mobile phone. We want to end music piracy by giving consumers an easy-to-use interface and economical service. The ability to sample and buy copyrighted content through in-application payments makes music accessible and affordable through an easy to use and legal channel," concluded Leino.
Spinlet's Silicon Valley offices will begin operations by the end of August, and the company is currently recruiting the region's top talent to assist with the development of the next version of their product, which will be launched in the coming months.
Spinlet combines the best of elements of the Music Cloud's existing service with mobile downloading capabilities available on the latest generation of smartphone platforms. The company is seeking distribution and affiliate partnerships with local mobile service operators and original equipment manufacturers to further expand availability.
Spinlet is also working with leading music labels and artists in Africa, Europe and Asia to further develop its portfolio of localized music catalogues.
