Splunk 'In Evaluation' for Federal Common Criteria Certification
Certification Complements Broad Splunk Adoption Across the U.S. Federal Government
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Splunk today announced it is in evaluation with a US NIAP-approved Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL), Booz Allen Hamilton. Companies that supply security products to U.S. government agencies are required to undergo this formal security evaluation as mandated by the National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy. Splunk also recently received the U.S. Army Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) and deployed across various DoD networks.
Since 2005 Splunk continues to expand its federal presence across DoD and civilian agencies. "Over 70 percent of US federal agencies rely on Splunk to gain operational intelligence from their IT data for security, compliance and application availability," said Tony Ayaz, vice president of federal sales, Splunk. "Our experience in the civilian and DoD sectors gives us unique insight into the daily challenges of monitoring and analyzing terabytes of critical data in real time. The Common Criteria Certification is an important milestone and supports Splunk's commitment to provide government agencies a better approach for securing their critical assets, networks and applications."
The Common Criteria is the first international standard for information technology security evaluation, of the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). The standard assures IT products that have been certified can be procured or used without the need for further evaluation, ensuring they meet high and consistent standards. NIAP is a joint program under the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to evaluate IT product conformance to international standards.
"Booz Allen's Common Criteria Testing Lab has enabled Splunk Inc. to assure their clients that their product meets the necessary security standards," said Bill Stewart, Booz Allen vice president and security expert in assurance and resilience. "We are very pleased to be able to help Splunk Inc. deliver enduring value to the government sector."
