SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Splunk®, Inc., the leading provider of operational intelligence software, today kicked off .conf2011, its second annual worldwide users' conference, at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. Major themes of the conference include Splunk's use in Big Data and the Cloud. Sessions will highlight the wide uses of Splunk presented by customers such as the Department of Energy, General Electric, Salesforce.com, Staples, Expedia and Cricket Communications.
At .conf2011 Splunk users will learn new ways to maximize their investment in Splunk software. More than 50 sessions will be led by customers, partners and Splunk staff, all aimed at broadening the use of Splunk to solve a range of IT issues and provide Operational Intelligence across entire organizations.

At the conference, Splunk is releasing the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange. This App provides continuous monitoring and reporting of Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft Exchange 2010 infrastructures. By converging operations and security data into integrated real-time dashboards that depict patterns of Exchange usage, the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange enables Exchange administrators to improve the operational reliability of their environments and speed security investigations.

Splunk is showcasing apps for server and desktop virtualization including Splunk App for Citrix XenDesktop (available on SplunkBase) and Splunk App for VMware (in preview). They facilitate true end-to end-visibility in virtualized and private cloud environments.
Splunk App for Transaction Profiling (preview)
This App makes it easier for Splunk customers to link transaction elements across different application tiers and visualize the overall health of identified transactions from end-to-end.
Splunk App for Enterprise Security (version 2.0 preview)
The Splunk App for Enterprise Security is a security practitioner's 'lens' for security data in Splunk. This enterprise security app provides prebuilt content and searches to focus security analysts on answering root-cause questions about malicious and anomalous events in the IT infrastructure in real-time.
Splunk Python SDK
The SDK gives Python developers and customers greater choice and flexibility in how they share and harness the Splunk engine and the valuable data stored in Splunk. It will shorten the time from idea to completion of an application for a variety of scenarios, including building new applications on top of Splunk and integrating Splunk data with existing reporting tools, portals and other applications. The Splunk Python SDK contains code samples, command line utilities and broad coverage of Splunk's REST API.
Splunk App for Web Intelligence (beta)
The Splunk App for Web Intelligence provides insights into web traffic for both IT and the business, from real-time session-level user metrics and ad-hoc analyses to historical trending and reporting. This enables IT organization to reduce system downtime while giving important feedback on customer behavior to product development and marketing teams.
