Sportech Racing Awarded Contract to Provide New Wagering Terminals to Betfred's Totepool Operations at UK Horse Racing Courses

NEW HAVEN, Conn., May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sportech Racing LLC (Sportech Racing), a division of Sportech PLC (LSE: SPO), announced that has entered into an agreement to provide wagering terminals to UK-based Betfred, owner of Totepool (formerly UK Tote), for installation at horse racing courses in the UK.  Sportech Racing will provide a total of 1,000 Flair™ wagering terminals in phases, with a portion of the installation to occur in time to support the 2013 race meeting at Royal Ascot.

Betfred is one of the largest bookmakers in the UK, with a retail estate of over 1,350 shops.  In 2011, Betfred acquired the UK Tote, and the company was awarded an exclusive seven-year license to operate pari-mutuel ("pools or tote") betting on horse racing in the UK.

The Flair™ teller operated wagering terminal provides teller-operated wagering services in a compact package that is ideally suited for situations in which wagering equipment must be moved from location to location, as is the case for Totepool operations in the UK.
