Shamis will step down from the role he has held since 1986. He assumed the position from the firm's founder, and his late father, Marvin Shamis. He remains president of SS&G, Inc. and will continue to serve on the firm's executive committee and finance committees. He will also continue to represent SS&G within the profession and as a national, industry speaker.
The fifteen-month transition will ensure that Littman has ample time to transition clients allowing more time for his new administrative duties. He will work with Shamis and will continue to be advised by the firm's executive committee, which leads the firm's strategy and growth, as well as its outside professional advisory board.
"SS&G is very committed to hiring and retaining the best professionals in the industry. Having a strong leader at the helm is essential in our ability to attract and keep them," says Shamis. "Bob Littman is that leader."
"Gary has been an exemplary leader in his tenure. One of the reasons we work so well together is a shared vision," says Littman. "We have every intention of remaining one of the nation's premier accounting and consulting firms."
Littman manages client engagements with a strong emphasis in the manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, health care, and professional service industries. His principal areas of expertise include working with privately owned businesses including business advisory services, specifically strategic growth and financing, succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions. He is the founder of the firm's transaction advisory services group.
In addition to his client service obligations, Littman is a member of the firm's executive, finance, and personnel committees. He is chairman of the Akron Zoological Park, serves on the board of directors for the Akron Children's Hospital Foundation, is an executive committee member of The City Club of Cleveland, and serves on the Rainbow Babies National Leadership Council. He holds membership in the 50 Club of Cleveland and Bluecoats Incorporated of Summit County. He is a graduate of Leadership Akron Class of 1995 and Leadership Cleveland Class of 2009.
Littman received a Master of Taxation from The University of Akron and a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Arizona. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
